Danny Woodson declared eligible to play for South Alabama after transferring from Alabama

Former Alabama wide receiver Danny Woodson returned home to Mobile to play college football after spending two seasons at Alabama a SEC school. Wide receiver Danny Woodson Jr., a former Leflore High School all-state player and recent transfer to South Alabama from Alabama, had been declared eligible to play for the Jaguars this season by the NCAA.

Coach Joey Jones, offensive coordinator Robert Matthews and Danny Woodson are both excited about the news.

Woodson a 6’1 200lb wide receiver transferred to South Alabama in May. He was named to the top 150 prospects out of high school by an ESPN.com, which also listed him as a four-star recruit. He was twice named a first-team all-state pick by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and was also named to that organization’s Super 12 team.

South Alabama is holding their second fall camp scrimmage today at Ladd Pebbles Stadium, and will open their 2013 FBS season on Aug. 29th against Southern Utah.
